Mayor Balzotti Announces the Recipients of the 2010 Women of the Year Awards

Brockton- Mayor Linda M. Balzotti and the City of Brockton’s Commission on Women’s Issues are proud to announce the selections for the 2010 Women of the Year Awards. The commission’s selection committee chose the winners from a large number of nominees.
The recipients of the Women of the Year Awards will be honored at the 2010 Women of the Year Award Breakfast held on Saturday March 27, 2010 at 10:00a.m. in the Shaw’s Center on 1 Kenneth Feinberg Way in Brockton. Tickets are available for purchase between 1p.m. and 4p.m. at Rockland Trust locations throughout Brockton.

Mayor Linda M. Balzotti, the Brockton Area Workforce Investment Board (BAWIB) and the Metro South Chamber of Commerce are joining together to provide the necessary leadership in promoting the 2010 Youth Employment Campaign. Working with the Brockton Public Schools, MY TURN, Inc., Brockton Area Private Industry Council (BAPIC) the One Stop Career Center and other youth-serving agencies, our aim is to engage youth in productive and enriching activities over the summer months. Please help us by pledging a summer job or by making a donation today!

Youth Build Brockton Graduate Patrick Breton Introduces General Colin Powell
Washington, D.C- On March 1, 2010, President Obama and General Colin Powell talked about education at an event for the America's Promise Alliance. Patrick Breton, a 2008 Youth Build Brockton graduate, introduced General Colin Powell at this event. Breton’s experience at Youth Build enabled him to earn his GED and attend college. Breton gave his testimony that described the many positive changes in his life since he enrolled in and graduated from Youth Build Brockton. Youth Build Brockton is a vital partner of Brockton’s Promise and their efforts to make a sustainable difference in the lives of youth in Brockton

A) FOR ALL CHRISTMAS TREES - PICK-UP WILL BEGIN DECEMBER 28, 2009 AND END JANUARY 8, 2010
B) THE TREES MUST BE CLEAN OF ALL DECORATIONS, TINSEL/GARLAND & ORNAMENTS

The information that the census collects is vital in determining how more than $400 billion dollars of federal funding each year is spent on infrastructure and services. Please take the time to fill out and return the census form. Remember the 2010 Census is safe, easy and important to Brockton.
